THE MOST WONDERFUL MIRACLE TAKES PLACE WHEN SOMEONE IS BORN AGAIN THROUGH THE POWER OF JESUS CHRIST.
Jesus illustrated the miracle of changed lives through His healing. On one occasion, Jesus was in a house crowded with people as He taught. Suddenly the roof over them began to break up, as four men lowered a pallet with a paralyzed friend of theirs on it. The story teaches us some important lessons.
The best thing that happened to the paralytic that day was that he came into a right relationship with God. Jesus forgave him. Even if Jesus had not healed him in body, he would have been whole in heart. However, it is just as important that we notice that Jesus affirmed the faith of the four friends. They may have had to convince the paralyzed man to let them carry him, believing that if he came face to face with Jesus, he would go home on his own two feet. Then, they worked hard to help their friend. Jesus’ miracle that day was partly a response to their love and expectation. They gave of themselves so that their friend might be changed by the Lord.
The lesson is clearly that people who know the power of Jesus to save have the privileged to usher others into His presence to be saved as well. Some people, already looking for answers to their emptiness and need, will come and hear what Christians have to say. Most people, however, will not come and hear. Christians must go and tell. If necessary, Christians must go to great lengths to put lost people in Jesus’ presence by taking the gospel to them.
To help accomplish this goal in a great way we must give to a strategy larger than ourselves. The Cooperative Program of Southern Baptists is a strategy for miracles, a network reaching from your home to the other side of the globe. You, your church, your state convention, and the Southern Baptist Convention are four friends, ushering people who need Jesus Christ into His presence, where faith brings forgiveness, and His look brings life.
