By Being with Jesus
Confidence through Life’s Difficulties
Mark 5:21-24, 35-43
It seems more people turn to Jesus in difficult times than at any other time. Sometimes it takes sickness, loss of a home, a broken marriage or the loss of a job before people turn to Jesus.
The Bible tells the story of a father named Jairus, who also turned to Jesus in desperation. His 12-year-old daughter was deathly ill. He traveled some distance to find the miracle worker who could heal her before it was too late.
Our confidence can be shattered by the unbelief of those around us. Such people surrounded this father, as they shared the news that his daughter was dead. By the time that travelers arrived at Jairus’ house, mourners and singers were already present and funeral proceedings were well underway.
The funeral crowd laughed at the thought of Jesus doing anything to help the little girl – after all, she was dead. Jesus allowed only those who believed in Him to witness His instructions to the little girl to stand up and walk. To the amazement of everyone, she stood up and walked!
So you run with a crowd of doubters, or are you a person of faith? Doubters rarely do anything significant in life. If you want to make a difference, put action to your faith and faithfully serve the Savior and give your tithes and offering through His church to reach those who are dead in their sins and trespasses. They can experience the command of the Lord to stand up and walk by serving Him.
