One Program the Cooperative Program
One Mission – The Great Commission; One Program – The Cooperative Program; Many Ministries – Great Commission Ministries
Since 1925, the Cooperative Program has provided the means for Alabama Baptists- and all Southern Baptists- to accomplish more for Christ than they could do separately.
Through the Cooperative Program, Alabama Baptists support three types of missionaries: international missionaries serving with the International Mission Board, North American missionaries serving with the North American Mission Board, and state missionaries serving with the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions. The Cooperative Program also supports the mission and missionaries of associations by providing a variety of helps, conferences, consultations and other resources.
In addition, the Cooperative Program enables Alabama Baptists o be involved in a variety of ministries including disaster relief, campus ministry, new church starts, local and global missions, evangelistic efforts, Sunday School, discipleship, support of retired ministers, education at Baptist colleges and seminaries, leadership development and more.
The Cooperative Program provides churches with an economical means of collecting and distributing their mission contributions. It offers a unified way of allocating funds to all Cooperative Program missions and ministries. In addition, your Cooperative Program gifts come back to your church in many ways, most often in the form of training opportunities, consultations and resources in a variety of areas of ministry.
The Cooperative Program helps you and your church fulfill Jesus’ Great Commission to take His message and ministry to lost and hurting people from your community to the ends of the earth. It is the one program which undergirds Alabama Baptists’ efforts to fulfill their one mission, the Great Commission, as they strive to be involved with many ministries – Great Commission Ministries.
